Since February 1998, John Masters has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Calgary Technologies Inc. (CTI) - Calgary's economic development agency for the Advanced Technology Sector.
CTI is a catalyst for economic growth, providing a wide range of specialized business development programs designed to sustain and expand high tech business. Since CTI was established in 1981, it has helped make hi-tech Calgary's fastest growing industry sector.
John leads a team who help communities and individuals make the right connections, find the right resources and gain the knowledge they need to develop their hi-tech business. CTI programs include technology incubation and commercialization as well as facilities (Alastair Ross Technology Center), technology advocacy, networking and the development of the University Innovation Park.
In October 2002, the World Teleport Association Intelligent Community Forum selected Calgary as the Co-Recipient of the World's Top Intelligent Community.

Before taking on the President and CEO position, John was the Director of CTI's INFOPORT program for four years.
Following his graduation from Carleton University in Ottawa, John's career progressed from an early assignment as a Special Assistant on Parliament Hill to a variety of more responsible positions in the technology industry including Regional Director of Honeywell.
John haslived in Calgary since 1987. John, along with his wife Carol and her two daughters, pursue an active lifestyle including a passion for downhill skiing, golfing and spending time at their home-away-from-home in the Columbia Valley of British Columbia.
